Program updates
LGBTIQ-inclusive in multicultural and multifaith communities
GLHV and VTMH are partners in a two-year 'Office of Multicultural Affairs and Social Cohesion Harmony Grant'; they are working together to promote discussions, develop resources and support people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ) in multicultural and multifaith communities.
Community Grants Evaluation
VTMH will evaluate a new Department of Health and Human Services grants program that's aiming to improve the mental health of immigrant and refugee background communities by building consumer, carer and community capacity.
Partners in Diversity
Neami National, Alfred Psychiatry, Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) and more recently, Mind Victoria, are continuing to collaborate with VTMH as organisational partners. The Program assists services to implement key diversity policies and local priorities.
VTMH Reference Group
The Group continues to meet several times a year, providing VTMH with strategic direction, advice and networks. Membership is broad, including mental health service providers, consumer and carer advocates, and leaders in migrant, refugee and LGBTIQ health.
State-wide Cultural Portfolio Holder (CPH) Network
The contributions of State-wide CPH Network members will be celebrated at an Inaugural CPH Oration Evening at the Melbourne Museum in October. A prominent human rights speaker from GetUp! will present on the evening. So CPHs, look out for your invitation!
Redeveloping interpreter resources
Consultations are underway - involving interpreters, practitioners, CPHs, team leaders and consumer and carer advocates - that will guide the design and development of new educational materials.
