ADDRESSING LONELINESS IN PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILL HEALTH

SPEAKER: DR. MICHELLE LIM, IVERSON HEALTH INNOVATION RESEARCH INSTITUTE AND SWINBURNE UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (CENTRE FOR MENTAL HEALTH)

Topic: The presentation will focus on ways mental health services can address experiences of loneliness among service users.

Speaker: Dr Michelle Lim is a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Psychologist at the Iverson Health Innovation Research Institute, and Centre for Mental Health at Swinburne University of Technology. Dr Lim is the head of the Social Health and Wellbeing (SHAW) Laboratory and chief scientific advisor for the Australian Coalition to End Loneliness, a national Australia network made up of 10 universities and 20 industry partners. Her current research explores using digital interventions to promote the social health and wellbeing of young people. Dr Lim also consults to not-for-profit organisations and government. She wrote the popular piece, The deadly truth about loneliness, for The Conversation in 2015.
