About the workshop:
This workshop uses a diversity lens to explore contemporary approaches to recovery-oriented practice in mental health settings.
Participants in this workshop will explore:
- working with individuals and families in their social and cultural context
- integrating social and cultural concerns into personal assessments and recovery plans
- using aspects of cultural assessment as presented in DSM-5
- ensuring the cultural safety of consumers, families and carers when supporting personal recovery
All mental health practitioners working in Victoria's specialist mental health services including case managers, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and those working in the community managed mental health sector.
Pre-Requisite Learning
This workshop builds on introductory-level training offered by Victorian Transcultural Mental Health (VTMH). Participants are asked to have either engaged in a VTMH introductory workshop within the last 3 years or alternatively view the free online training module, Orientation to Cultural Responsiveness, available via the VTMH website at http://www.vtmh.org.au/training/conversations-in-cultural-responsiveness-an-online-introductory-tool prior to attending this workshop.
Eligibility
VTMH is joining forces with the Victorian Mental Health Learning and Development Clusters to deliver cultural responsiveness workshops for the mental health service workforce. This workshop is offered via the North Eastern Cluster (NEVIL). Individuals working in Victorian Mental Health Services and eligible to attend professional development as part of the North East Cluster (NEVIL), the Southern Cluster (LAMPS), and Western Cluster, are invited to register.
