VTPU Training Program
VTPU Training is moving in a new and innovative direction to provide more flexible options for specialist mental health services.
Our previous 5 module course is to be replaced by a one day introductory workshop providing an overview of key concepts and issues raised in our newly accredited online course.
We will be responding to requests from services for a training package by providing partnership information and planning sessions for cultural portfolio holders, managers and other key staff; followed by the one day introductory training workshop available to all staff in the service.
Participants in the one day workshop will then have the possibility to go on to enrol in our new, accredited online course commencing in July 2012 titled: “Cultural Responsiveness for Victoria’s Specialist Mental Health Services.” Preference will be given to presenting the course in services entering a formal partnership with the VTPU.
This course will run online over a six month period with three scheduled participatory one day workshops, accompanied by assessment tasks to meet accreditation requirements for participants wishing to obtain the TAFE recognition of achievement at a Diploma or Post-graduate level. Participants are able to choose not to complete the written work but will not receive the recognition of achievement.
Another exciting development for is our special interest generic workshops for staff working in specialist mental health services. Topics that will be covered are: Peri-natal mental health in CALD communities, Aged Care in CALD communities and access to APATT, CALD Consumer and Carer participation, and Issues in CALD Youth Mental Health.
