Transcultural Clinical Discussion Service (previously known as 'Secondary Consultation Service')
The Transcultural Clinical Discussion Service (previously known as The Secondary Consultation Service) offers mental health clinicians an opportunity to discuss the cultural relevance of a specific consumer’s symptoms and help-seeking behaviours or challenges with engagement.
These 90 minute sessions are facilitated by VTMH staff and service-based cultural portfolio holders (CPH’s). Referrers are expected to coordinate and participate in the Transcultural Clinical Discussion, and complete a referral form.
The service is an expansion of the VTMH External Enquiry Service, and available to staff in services that are currently in a partnership, or have previously been in a partnership with VTMH. The service builds on knowledge and skills already in existence or acquired during participation in cultural responsiveness training offered during the partnership.
For more information about this service, including the process of making a request, please speak with our Consultant Psychiatrist or Psychiatry Registrar on 9231 3300 (select option 1) or submit an enquiry form.
